Layers of Color: Linoleum Reduction Prints
Layers of Color: Linoleum Reduction Prints
Instructor: Helena Noordhoff
Sunday January 11 - Sunday February 15, 10 am - 1 pm
(6 sessions, 18 hours total)
In this six-week adult printmaking workshop, students will explore the process of linoleum relief reduction printing, a technique that uses a single block to create multi-layered color images. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants will learn to plan, carve, and print in progressive stages, removing more of the block with each layer to reveal complex, richly colored compositions. Emphasis will be placed on design, color relationships, and technical craftsmanship, while encouraging personal expression and creative problem-solving. All experience levels are welcome, and students will leave the class with a small edition of their own original reduction prints.
$15 Supply fee payable to the instructor upon first day of class. Includes shared carving tools, one 9“ x 12” Linoleum carving block, paper (limited), and shop supplies.
