IMMIGRANT: The text bleeds into lines that resemble a barcode. Although it is open to interpretation, it is suggestive of the economic contributions of immigrants. A barcode is also symbolic of categorization, tracking and monitoring. The work is a response to the current moment. Wear and live with what you stand for.

Zenobia Lakdawalla is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. She grew up in Mumbai, India and received an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston. She has resided in Hawai‘i for the past 22 years, where she has a graphic design studio. Her most recent exhibitions include a solo show at the Hui No Eau on Maui, the Artist of Hawai‘i juried show at the Downtown Art Center, and the MACC Biennial at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Her work is in public and private collections including the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

In 2024, Zenobia was selected by Alejandra Rojas Silva, curator at the Honolulu Museum of Art, as the recipient for the Ohana Award at the Honolulu Printmakers Annual Juried Show. The Ohana Award is sponsored by Marcia Morse and offers a neighbor island artist the opportunity for a solo-show at the Honolulu Printmakers.
